A 29-year-old man was killed Tuesday night in an accident on Highway 46 East, California Highway Patrol reports.

At about 9:17 p.m., the man, originally from Manalapan, NJ, was traveling eastbound in a 2002 Honda Civic just west of Lucy Brown Road.

For unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by 2015 Honda Civic driven by a 66-year-old woman from Cayucos. The man was ejected from his vehicle and sustained fatal injuries from blunt force trauma.

The female driver of the 2015 Honda Civic suffered a broken leg, ankle, knee and ribs, the report says.

Another vehicle traveling behind her, a 2008 Toyota Prius, driven by a 35-year-old man from Pasco, WA, also collided with the New Jersey man’s car. He suffered complaints of pain.

CHP has not yet released the identities of those involved in the accident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, however drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a contributing factor.
