36 students graduate from North County CERT Training
–North San Luis Obispo County CERT, sponsored by Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services, announced that 36 students recently graduated from Community Emergency Response Training (CERT). CERT basic training is a FEMA course that teaches citizens how to be prepared in case of a disaster.
Students complete a 20-hour course over 4 weeks that developed skills to extinguish small fires, render basic first aid, search lightly damaged buildings, rescue trapped victims, organize emergency response resources, recognize signs of terrorism, and identify symptoms of traumatic stress brought on by disaster.
North San Luis Obispo County CERT will be hosting future CERT basic training classes early 2020. In addition, Spanish speaking disaster preparedness classes (LISTOS) will also be offered.
