An 80-year-old woman from Templeton died Friday afternoon in a crash on Highway 101 just north of Paso Robles, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The CHP identified the woman as Suzanne Tobey of Templeton.

The accident was reported just after 4 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 at Monterey Road north of Paso Robles.

The woman, who was driving a white 2004 Ford Explorer, was hit while turning left from Monterey Road onto southbound 101, CHP reports. A semi-truck heading northbound could not slow down enough in time to avoid hitting her, the report says.

The truck driver, Jose Calderon of Castroville, was not injured in the crash.

The fast lane of northbound Highway 101 was closed during the clean-up and investigation, the report says.

The 101 gets pretty busy at times and making those left turns can be difficult. There have been too many accident's lately to continue the the ways things are now. Traffic lights are poor solution but overpasses will take so long to complete. What's the answer ?

She was my neighbor. She was such a sweet lady. I'm going to miss the sound of her dinner bell that she would ring when it was time for her husband to come and eat. Thoughts and prayers are out for you Mr. Tobey. She will be missed
