Amendments to water management plan move forward

Only Supervisor Debbie Arnold, whose district would be partially affected, voted against the plan. Arnold says she’d prefer to wait until more studies are complete. Supervisor Frank Mecham, whose district is also affected, voted in favor saying he wants to be pro-active and doesn’t want to “kick the can down the road anymore.”
Out of the 40 or so people addressing the board, roughly two-thirds asked that supervisors not vote to move forward. Tuesday’s vote should not be confused with creation of the Paso Robles Ground Water Management district, which is a separate issue that needs approval in Sacramento.

I don’t know how many more studies have to be done. You can look at the problem 100 times ,twist it the way you want it and it still comes out the same. More studies is a waste of valuable time and WATER, but I thought these people we elected where for the people and not themselves. We need a moratorium now and stop the planting and drilling except for people’s wells that have gone dry because of the over use by the wineries. We never had this problem in the past until the wine industry moved in but you folks are blind to that fact. All you can see is Green $$$$ and don’t give a dam about thinking of the future. Just get those plants in and use up the natural resource until it is gone. Then what? Where all up that creek with a empty creek. These elected officials can and should be replaced next election and I know I will be looking for someone who is thinking about the people and just taking a breather on growth. I know it will be a hardship but we all have to bite the bullet! Just remember the election is coming and we can voice our opinion then.
I agree with you completely Leslie. The wineries keep pulling more and more water out of the ground. Of corse the water table is going to go down. It takes a bunch of water to water grape vineyards…I wonder how much water each of the wineries use?
