Best sparkling wines in Paso Robles for the holidays
–With the holiday season now upon us, we invited our local wineries to help us with their top wine recommendations. Wow, we were impressed by the submissions. When you celebrate this season and raise a glass at your Christmas dinner and New Year’s Eve celebrations, consider pouring some of these delightful local bubbly wines.
Today we consider sparkling wine recommendations. Champagne has always been a popular choice for kicking off the holidays and ringing in the New Year. California’s Champagne-style sparkling wines make for excellent choices. From the sparkling wines submitted, here are the ones we recommend. Cheers to a bright new year!

Top local sparkling wine recommendations
Austin Hope Treana Blanc de Blancs – Cuvée 2 – $65
The Treana Blanc de Blancs Cuvée 2 presents delicate floral aromas of golden apple, stone fruit and shaved almond. An ethereal mouthfeel dances with notes of pear, green apple, citrus and brioche. Tangy acidity and hints of creaminess strike a lasting balance on the finish.
Barr Estate 2021 Sparkling Albariño – $32
This delightful sparkling wine is dry and smooth, offering aromas of melon, pear, and peach. Pairs well with oysters, caviar, pate, foie gras, and spicy dishes.
Four Sisters Ranch 2023 Sparkling Orange Muscat – $26
This sparkling orange muscat, made using the traditional “méthode champenoise,” is a dry wine crafted from our earliest Estate Orange Muscat grapes. With vibrant orange citrus aromas and hints of pear and green apple, it’s perfect for any celebration. Best served chilled, it pairs wonderfully with soft cheeses, cheesecake, nuts, and grilled fish, making it an excellent choice for Sunday brunch.
Hoyt Family Vineyards Hoyt 2 Hoyt Sparkling Wine – $45
This sparkling wine is light, crisp and refreshing with dry notes of pear and apple. It’s been called a “celebration of Sunday morning”. It won a gold medal at the 2022 Sunset International Wine Competition. Delicious!
Opolo Blanc de Blancs – $36
This popular sparkling is back for the holidays! It was crafted in the Méthode Champenoise style from chardonnay and coastal white grapes. This lively wine boasts floral aromas of pear, hazelnut, and brioche, with a palate of citrus and golden apple flavors, culminating in tangy acidity and creaminess. It pairs well with oysters and lobster with herbed butter, featuring crisp McIntosh apple notes and a steely mineral intensity—perfect for festive celebrations.
Paris Valley Road 2020 Sparkling – $36
This méthode traditionnelle sparkling has notes of d’Anjou pears, Meyer lemons, green apples, apricots, and blanched almonds mingle. Whispers of jasmine, orange blossoms, and brioche delicately emerge as well. The finish is polished and very satisfying.
Paso Secco Sparkling Grenache Blanc – $29
Impossibly aromatic with fine, silky bubbles and an elegant mousse, exploding across the palate with flavors of freshly squeezed lime juice, green apple candy, and lemon pie filling. This is a sparkling wine ideal as everyday bubbles or for a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or other special occasion. Enjoy it with friends, as an aperitif, or with dinner.
Rava Winery Sparkling Negro Amaro – $60
This pink sparkling is made from a certified french clone of Negro Amaro. It has more structure than a rosé, but is softer than a full bodied red. It’s fruity with black cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate on the nose. It has medium tannin structure, with a long finish. It pairs well with barbeque chicken pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, teriyaki, or cranberry sauce.
Summerwood Asa Awa 2020– $40
This 100% grenache blanc sparkling wine has aromas of white flowers, green apples, Asian pear and quince. Flavors of grapefruit, lemon zest, green apples and lemon-lime tones greet the palate. Enjoy as an aperitif or paired with fresh oysters, sushi or roasted chicken.
Tobin James Sparkling Dream Weaver – $16
This sparkling wine has a refreshing balance of white peach fruit, tingly acid, and subtle sweetness. Its body is zippy, fresh, and light bouncing effervescence. It’s off dry, and pairs well with brunch, charcuterie, fried chicken, waffles, oysters, crab cakes, and lobster. It’s a great value.
