Editor’s note: This story originally inaccurately appeared as a letter to the editor. The below quote was in response to questions posed by the Paso Robles Daily News regarding recently voiced concerns raised by parents.

Jen Gaviola, the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Director of Secondary Education, responded to claims made in a recent letter to the editor, as well as the recent district decision to “part ways” with the high school football coach Larry Grant. She wrote:

Paso Robles High School is dedicated to the success of all students. Our teachers go above and beyond to ensure students are college, career and community ready. Our teachers are caring, passionate professionals who assist students and support the learning of all students. PRHS is an accredited school with both state and national accolades. We believe in our staff and support their grading practices. Additionally, we research any parent complaints or concerns to ensure all students are treated equitably.

As for reported concerns on the health and safety of our students, we take every claim or reported incident very seriously – as our students are our first priority. Every reported incident is investigated fully and followed up with by our site administration. We have full confidence in our dedicated site administrators to always put our students’ safety first.

As for the comments regarding Mr. Grant, as we stated before, we mutually agreed to part ways and we wish Mr. Grant the best in his future endeavors.

Our future plans are to continue to work for, and with, our Paso Robles community in the partnership of educating our students. As always, if parents or the community have concerns we are always available to meet and discuss their issues with the goal of student support, safety and success.

    One Team, One Dream!

    Jen Gaviola
