Accident near Wellsona leaves one injured
–On Monday, at 5:20 p.m., 49-year-old Antioch resident George Jones was driving a 1995 Lexus southbound on Highway 101 in the left lane just south of Wellsona Road at a speed of 75 mph.
He came upon slower traffic and had to veer to the right to avoid a collision. Jones reportedly lost control of his vehicle and went off the right shoulder after striking a raised asphalt curb. The Lexus overturned going down an embankment striking a metal culvert and came to rest on a highway perimeter fence.
Jones was extricated from the vehicle by Cal Fire personnel and transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries. US 101 remained open and no other vehicles were involved.
