Active school shooter drill held at empty Bauer Speck site
Paso Robles Police Department, Paso Robles Fire Department, Cal Fire, and the Paso Robles Unified School District participated in an active shooter incident drill at Bauer Speck Elementary School on Wednesday morning.
“One of the major priorities for the elected officials and public officials is the safety of all of our citizens,” said Fire Engineer/Paramedic Charles Brown. The exercise had fire and law enforcement training together to integrate and operated efficiently, he said.
Twelve simulated victims participated in the drill. Police and fire worked in a coordinated effort to secure the scene, treat, and transport simulated victims to the proper hospitals.
This event was in the planning stages prior to the recent incident at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
