– Oreo, a 4-month-old rat terrier, is this week’s Adoptable Pet of the Week from Novy’s Ark Dog Rescue and Adoption.
Weighing just 7 pounds, Oreo was rescued from a shelter in Salinas, where he was extremely frightened. Though still timid, he is slowly gaining confidence each day with his foster family.
Oreo was named by a group of local children who held a bake sale for the rescue during the Santa Margarita Fourth of July parade — inspired by the Oreo cupcakes they sold.
He’s described as a gentle soul and will need a patient, loving home where he can continue to build trust.
