– The adoptable pet of the week this week is Turkey from Novy’s Ark Dog Rescue and Adoption.
Turkey is a 5- or 6-year-old Chihuahua mix whose story is one of resilience. She came to Novy’s Ark from the Bakersfield shelter as a pregnant stray and later required an emergency C-section. Only two of her puppies survived, and Turkey battled a serious respiratory infection before recovering in foster care.
Now healthy and playful, Turkey weighs about 10 pounds and enjoys the company of other dogs. Her foster family describes her as affectionate, energetic and full of personality.
