Adoptable pets of the week: Diesel and Niya

–This week’s edition of North County Adoptable Pets of the Week features Shepherd mix Diesel and orange Tabby cat Niya.

The cat of the week from North County Humane Society is Niya.

NiyaNiya needs a new home for the holidays. This sweet, seven-month-old girl was born in Templeton and raised by an elderly person in a loving home. When caring for a kitten became too much for the elder, Niya was brought into NCHS in hope that she could find a new family.

Niya is a smallish orange tabby with a white chin. She follows visitors around the cat room and rubs up against their legs, and she loves to play with toys and is especially fond of the red dot laser light. Niya is not entirely happy to have left her comfortable home to live in a shelter with other, bigger cats, and we hope she can find a forever home and family before the holiday season.

Available cats and kittens can be seen on the website at www.slonchs.org.  Potential pet parents are also encouraged to stop by and visit with the cats to find the right one for their family.

The North County Humane Society is located just off of Highway 101 by the Del Rio Road exit at 2300 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero. They are open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Complete information is listed on the website, or call NCHS at (805) 466-5403.Diesel

Available for adoption this week from Second Chance at Love, a dog rescue and sanctuary in Templeton that takes in abandoned, neglected, abused or abandoned dogs, is Diesel.

Like all of Second Chance’s dogs, this 2-year-old Shepherd mix came from a bad situation, but he doesn’t let it get him down. Diesel is the happiest dog. He’s friendly with everyone he comes into contact with.

He loves other dogs and adores his walks. He’s athletic which makes him the perfect dog to take out on the trails in the morning and will be more then happy to cuddle up in front of the TV at night. He’s the type of dog we all dream about.

For information about adopting Diesel, visit the website or call (805) 434-3982.
