– The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport will be hosting Airport Day on Oct. 15. Combined with Cal Fire Open House, both events are free and open to the general public from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

With an opportunity for the community to get an “up-close” experience of the Airport and Cal Fire, activities will include guided tower and fire station tours, displays of vintage aircraft, aircraft firefighting vehicles and equipment and an assortment of information booths.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be conducting Young Eagles airplane rides at no cost to children between the ages of 8 and 17 and biplane rides will be offered for purchase.

What’s more, kids can try their hand at Cal Fire “air bag” lift, rope rescue demonstration, and other interactive happenings. Cal Fire will be offering rides on one of their vehicles, too.

Food and refreshments will be available through Kiwanis and Smokey Bear will be on hand to greet attendees.

Parking for the event will be free in the Airport’s lower level parking lot. Courtesy shuttles will be available to access the event.
