–Alta Irlene Jespersen Mauer Claassen, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 21 at her home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct 29, 11 a.m. at the Rose Chapel in Paso Robles District Cemetery.

Mrs Claassen was born Aug. 12, 1921 in Paso Robles on the Aaroe Ranch. She was raised in Paso Robles and attended Marie Bauer School (Bauer-Speck School). She graduated from Paso Robles High in 1939. She especially enjoyed going to Las Vegas where luck was usually in her favor. Alta enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, putting puzzles together, and traveling. But she was particularly talented in baking pies and enjoyed creating special treats for her loved ones. Her baking skills were top notch and she was often asked to make pies for special occasions. In 2001 Alta served as Pioneer Day Queen.

Claassen is survived by her husband, Albert Claassen of Templeton; her daughter, Darlene Mosher and son-in-law Raymond Mosher; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Mauer of Atascadero.
