Annual Dune Run & Walk returns to Grover Beach

    – The City of Grover Beach will hold the 37th annual Dune Run & Walk on Sunday, Sept. 13, along the city’s boardwalk and dunes.

“The Dune Run & Walk is a wonderful community tradition that captures the beauty of our city and coastline,” Grover Beach Mayor Kassi Dee said. “This is a fantastic opportunity to be active outdoors with your neighbors while taking in the spectacular views along our beaches. I can’t wait to join everyone out on the trail.”

The event is open to participants of all skill levels, from casual walkers to experienced runners. The course includes soft and hard-packed sand, dirt trails, and wooden boardwalks.

Online preregistration costs $30 without an official race T-shirt or $45 with a shirt. Preregistration closes Sept. 6. Day-of registration costs $36 and opens at 8:15 a.m. T-shirts will also be available on race day for $20.

Participants will gather at Beach Plaza at the end of West Grand Avenue beginning at 8:15 a.m. The race will start at 9 a.m. The location provides access to parking, restrooms, and other amenities.

An awards ceremony after the race will recognize the top three finishers in each age group and gender category. Live music and refreshments will follow the ceremony.

“Our staff takes immense pride in organizing this accessible and fun annual event,” Grover Beach City Manager Matt Bronson said. “The Dune Run continues to highlight Grover Beach as a prime Central Coast destination for outdoor recreation, health and community pride.”

Participants can register or learn more on the city’s website. They may also contact Grover Beach Community Services at CS@groverbeach.org or (805) 473-4580.
