Apartment fire displaces four Atascadero families 


–At 8:03 a.m. on Wednesday, Atascadero Police Officers responded to a report of an explosion at 8435 San Andres Avenue in Atascadero. Atascadero’s Department of Fire and Emergency Services was immediately dispatched upon officer’s arrival, who found it to be a fire which had started in Unit 4 of the complex, but which quickly spread to all four units.

Also responding to the incident were units from San Luis Ambulance, Templeton, Paso Robles and Atascadero State Hospital Fire Departments, along with the CHP who blocked traffic. Unit 4 of the complex sustained most of the damage but the entire building was affected and four families have been displaced from their homes. Red Cross has been notified and will assist with emergency services for the families.

At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
