Armed robbery, attempted carjacking reported in Avila Beach 

–On Monday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding an attempted robbery at the parking lot at Cave Landing Road also known as Pirate’s Cove.

The victim reported two men came up to the driver’s car window, pointed a gun and threatened the driver. The victim drove off and called 911.

The two suspects then confronted another victim in another vehicle at that location. This time the suspects took personal property from the victim and attempted to take the victim’s vehicle which ultimately was not successful.

The suspects then fled the area. Deputies located the suspects and after a short foot pursuit were able to detain the two men.

The CHP responded to assist as well as a CHP helicopter.

The suspects were apprehended and taken into custody. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Brayan Arellano of Santa Maria and a 17-year-old juvenile. Arellano was booked into County Jail on charges of armed robbery, attempted carjacking, making terrorist threats and conspiracy. The juvenile was taken to the Juvenile Services Center where he is facing the same charges.

The investigation is continuing. No booking photos are available at this time.
