Arroyo Grande escrow firm alleging that former manager embezzled funds

    – An Arroyo Grande escrow firm has filed a lawsuit against its former escrow manager, alleging she embezzled $545,557 from the company over nearly two years, according to a recent report by the Pacific Coast Business Times.

According to a civil complaint filed June 25 in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, Opus Escrow alleges that former escrow manager Beverly Stickler carried out a prolonged scheme to steal funds from escrow accounts. The lawsuit also names Qualia Labs, a digital real estate closing platform, as a defendant.

Qualia had a contract with Opus to provide accounting services, reconciliations, fraud protection, and related services, according to the complaint.

The suit alleges fraud by concealment, negligence, breach of contract, and conversion.
