Arroyo Grande man arrested for child molestation
Lawrence L. Jones, past recipient of Arroyo Grande Citizen of the Year recognition, arrested on allegations of child molestation
On March 24, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received information that two female juveniles under the age of 14 had been sexually molested while attending a birthday party at the rural Arroyo Grande home of Lawrence “Lenny” Jones.
Based on that information, sheriff’s detectives began an investigation into the incident. That investigation has resulted in the arrest of 63-year-old Lawrence Lucien Jones of Arroyo Grande.
Jones was arrested on Monday and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of kidnapping, child molestation, and penetration with a foreign object. Additional charges are pending, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jones, a real estate agent, was the recent recipient of Arroyo Grande’s citizen of the year award.
This investigation is continuing. At this time, investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying any other potential victims in this case by calling the sheriff’s office at (805) 781-4500.
