Art Association to host 20th annual Arte de Tiza street art competition
– The Paso Robles Art Association will host its 20th annual Arte de Tiza street chalk art competition on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Downtown City Park. The free event invites artists of all ages to participate.
Registration will take place from 8 to 9 a.m., with judging scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Winners will be announced at noon at the gazebo. Chalk, knee pads, and water will be provided. Eighty-five sidewalk spots are available.
“We have been producing Arte de Tiza in conjunction with the Downtown Association for 20 years now,” said Kristene Thompson, Paso Robles Art Association president and events director. “I love seeing how much fun the kids have creating their art — and they love the part where they win money.”
The Optimists Club of Paso Robles and financial consultant John Zeller of Edward Jones are sponsoring cash prizes. Participants will be grouped by school level, with awards ranging from $20 to $100. Adult winners will receive gift certificates from Odyssey World Café and Paso Terra Restaurant, as well as free wine tasting at Indigene Cellars.
Volunteers from the Optimists Club will help with registration and logistics.
