Art association to host portrait photography workshop

Class will be taught by professional photographer Amy Myers

    – The Paso Robles Art Association will host a photography workshop on Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in its gallery inside Studios on the Park in downtown Paso Robles. The workshop, led by professional photographer Amy Myers, will cover techniques for taking high-quality portrait photographs.

Myers, who has worked as a professional photographer for 43 years, will teach participants how to help subjects relax in front of the camera, use flattering angles, work with natural light, and enhance portraits through cropping and editing.

Myers holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in commercial photography and studied fine art photography. She has volunteered as a photography instructor at the Long Beach Veterans Administration and the Photo Warrior Program and has worked with the National Society to Prevent Blindness in Southern California.

She has also taught and lectured on street, product, portrait, wedding, still life, and fine art photography, as well as improving camera skills and using Photoshop and Lightroom.

“We are very excited to present this class with a fun and creative talent like Ms. Myers. You will be eager to start taking better pictures of important people in your life after this class,” said Kristene Thompson, president of the Paso Robles Art Association.

The workshop is open to the public for $25. Members of the Paso Robles Art Association can attend for $15 and receive additional benefits, including opportunities to exhibit and sell art, participation in a painters and pastels guild, and receptions for exhibit openings.

For more information, visit www.pasoroblesartassociation.org or call Amy Myers at (562) 889-5653 to register. Kristene Thompson can also be contacted at (805) 369-3686 or KrisTheDogMom@gmail.com.
