Art festival returns to Morro Bay for holiday weekends this summer

Festival returns during Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends

    – The Morro Bay Art Association will host Art in the Park, an outdoor art festival that has brought artists and community members together for more than seven decades.

Held annually during Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends, the event brings more than 100 artists to Morro Bay Park, located at 750 Harbor St., for an outdoor exhibition of art and crafts. Admission is free and open to the public.

Founded in 1955, Art in the Park was created to provide artists with a place to exhibit, sell, and connect with the public. The event continues to serve as the Morro Bay Art Association’s largest annual fundraiser.

Visitors can view a variety of artwork, including paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, and other media. Attendees also have the opportunity to meet artists and learn about their work.

Proceeds from the event support the Morro Bay Art Association’s programs, including student scholarships and operations at Art Center Morro Bay. The center hosts exhibitions, classes, and community programs throughout the year.

“Art in the Park reflects the heart of our organization,” said Kathleen Heil, board president. “It’s a celebration of artists, community, and the belief that art plays a vital role in bringing people together.”

As the Morro Bay Art Association approaches its 75th anniversary, organizers say Art in the Park continues to build on its history while expanding its reach and welcoming new audiences to the arts on the Central Coast.
