Art quilts on display at Paso Robles Library
Artist Jeanne Aird employs traditional and new techniques
Artist Jeanne Aird employs traditional and new techniques– The art quilts of local resident Jeanne Aird will be on display in the Paso Robles City Library in the month of April. Using such techniques as block printing, Japanese shibori, painting, bleaching, dyeing, hand-stitching, and embroidery, Aird captures the colors and textures of nature, including her own backyard.
“The gnarly branches of the hundred-year-old oak trees and rolling hills provide me with images to re-create in some form or another,” said Aird. “My mother taught me how to sew and embroider at a young age. I enjoyed sharing my love of art through teaching it at Flamson Middle School for 30 years. I continue to learn new techniques and create fiber art in my studio/barn in Paso Robles.”
