— Each month the Paso Robles City Library features the work of a local or transplanted artist. The featured artist for November is Melinda T. Martin. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Melinda T. Martin has lived in Paso Robles since 1984. She first learned photography in high school but began a more serious effort in her late 30’s. Martin has never studied art, but developed a natural talent for composition and experiments with new concepts in digital photography. Recent efforts include work in digital art, which allows her to combine her photographs with her imagination. Martin views her photographs as successful if the viewer can experience her feelings and those of the environment at the moment the image was captured. “When viewing my digital artwork, I like when each viewer creates their own story based on the image,” she says.

Martin is a member of the Paso Robles Art Association and credits her involvement with their Photography Guild in helping her expand her vision and improve her technical skill. She is also enthusiastically encouraged by her husband, who participates in her travels to capture new images and carries her equipment up the trails.

The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday – Friday 10-8, and Saturday 10-5. For more information on library programs and events, please call (805) 237-3870 or visit www.prcity.com/library.
