Sessions open to artists of all skill levels
– The Paso Robles Art Association will host animator and painter Mike Hernandez for a plein air workshop on May 16 and 17.
Hernandez is a painter, educator, and veteran production designer and art director with decades of experience in animation, including work in DreamWorks animation production. He is known for his work in gouache and oil painting.
The workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels and will include daily live demonstrations covering composition selection and lighting, one-on-one coaching and critiques, and in-depth discussions on color temperature, value control, and simplified shapes.
“We are thrilled to bring an artist of Mike’s caliber to the Central Coast,” said Ellen Maldonado, director of communications of the Paso Robles Art Association. “Paso Robles offers a diverse palette of textures and colors that perfectly complement Mike’s teaching style. This workshop isn’t just about painting; it’s about learning to see the world shaped by light and color.”
Registration is open, with limited space available. For registration and venue information, visit pasoroblesartassociation.org/webinar-registration-1. For more information about Hernandez, visit mikehernandezart.com.
