– Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham has announced key staff appointments for his assembly district office.

“We have put together a well-rounded and talented team that will be able to meet the diverse needs of constituents,” said Assemblyman Cunningham. “They all come with a strong commitment to public service and deep ties to our community.”

District Director Jocelyn Brennan
Brennan resides in South County and has lived and raised her family on the Central Coast for 23 years. She mostly recently served as legislative aide to San Luis Obispo Supervisor Lynn Compton, where she worked on water policy, land use, infrastructure, and constituent services. Brennan understands the important role staff plays as a liaison between the public and government representatives, ensuring constituents, small businesses, and community organizations can navigate policies impacting their lives. Her background also includes community engagement as a women’s and children’s ministry director, as well as leading a summer camp for special needs children. With years of experience running a family-owned business on the Central Coast, Brennan will be a key advocate for Assemblyman Cunningham’s focus on small business growth in the region.

Senior Field Representative Felix Esparza
Esparza has spent much of his career in Santa Maria in several law enforcement roles. In total, Esparza’s public safety service spans 29 years as a police officer, undercover narcotics detective, DARE officer, Field Training Officer and Special Problems Unit (Beat Coordinator). He is involved with the Latino Outreach Council of San Luis Obispo, the League of United Latin American Citizens, and volunteers his time with Central Coast Future Leaders. Esparza is the co-founder of YELL (Young Educated Latino Leaders) and the Latino Legacy Awards. As a board member of the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce, he understands the unique needs of Central Coast economic development. Felix Esparza will be a strong voice for constituents with a focus in Santa Barbara County and will be the main contact for Spanish speaking constituents.

Other appointments for Assemblyman Cunningham’s district staff include Stephen Heter who staffed Cunningham during his successful campaign for assembly, as well as Keilah Smith from Paso Robles who has strong roots in the community including private sector experience.

Assemblyman Cunningham will be holding an open house on Feb. 23 to invite members of the community to connect with him as well as the staff that will be representing him in the district. The public is encouraged to drop in Thursday, Feb 23 anytime from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo County Veteran’s Hall 801 Grand Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
