Atascadero boxer wins debut fight by first round knockout

– Local boxer JJ Subia made his professional debut July 12 in Los Angeles, winning by first-round knockout.

Just over a month later, Subia entered the ring again at the Butterfly Brawl on the Santa Monica Pier on Aug. 16. He won his second professional fight with another first-round knockout.

Subia was born and raised in Atascadero and Paso Robles and trains at Goatshack Boxing Club in Paso Robles.

He says he is aiming to become the first boxing world champion from the local area.
