–Derek Kirk, President & CEO of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce has announced his resignation, effective Feb. 21, 2019.

“I could not be more grateful to the Atascadero Chamber Board for the opportunity to lead this organization,” Kirk said. “The decision to transition at this time was not an easy one but will come with many opportunities for the organization to continue to thrive.”

Kirk has accepted the position of Director of Community Engagement & Advocacy for Visit SLO CAL, the countywide destination management and marketing organization.

“I am proud of the tremendous accomplishments we have had together and look forward to continuing to support the Atascadero business community in my new capacity,” said Kirk.

Angela Cisneros, 2019 Chair of the Atascadero Chamber Board and General Manager at K. Jons in Atascadero, thanked Kirk for his commitment to the community and strong efforts to strengthen the organization.

“Derek has given his time and talents to our community. We are grateful to have had him as our CEO and look forward to partnering with him as he transitions to serving and promoting the County with our friends at Visit SLO CAL” said Cisneros.

Kirk joined the organization in 2018, after serving as Director of Community & Government Relations for a regional Chamber in Orange County, CA. During his tenure in Atascadero, he led the organization through a relocation of its office and rebrand including the development of the new mission statement, “Empowering OUR Business Community”. The Chamber also launched the first co-working space in North SLO County, BridgeWork by Pacific Premier Bank.

Cisneros said that the Chamber Board has appointed a search committee to begin the process of hiring a permanent replacement and will be announcing an interim CEO in the very near future.
