Atascadero Greybots to reveal robot at annual ‘Greybot Gala’

The 2016 Atascadero Greybots team.

– The Atascadero Greybots, local high school robotics program and 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition world champions, are hosting the 5th annual Greybot Gala, where they will unveil their 2018 robot and talk about their STEM programs in San Luis Obispo’s north county.

Students in the Greybots high school robotics team compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition, where students are given six weeks to design, fabricate, program, and wire a 120 pound robot. For the last 5 years, the team has unveiled their robot to the community at the Greybot Gala. The Gala will feature a historical robot exhibit(including the 2017 champion robot), a presentation on the work the team does in the community and on the robot, and this year’s robot reveal.

This year the Greybot Gala is moving to a new location – the First Assembly Church, located at 5545 Ardilla Avenue in Atascadero. The event is all ages, and goes from 6 – 7 p.m. on Feb. 17. There is no entry fee and refreshments are provided.
