Atascadero Memorial Day ceremony set for May 26 

Event includes flyover, guest speaker, wreath laying and barbecue

– The Atascadero Veterans Memorial Foundation will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. at the Faces of Freedom Memorial.

The event will begin with a flyover by Estrella Warbirds. The Cal Poly Reserve Officers’ Training Corps will present the colors, accompanied by the Central Coast Pipes and Drums and the Welcome Home Military Heroes Flag Line.

Pilot Melissa Hughes, representing Women Airforce Service Pilots, will serve as the guest speaker.

A wreath will be laid in memory of Dan Phillips, known as “Barber Dan.” Veteran organizations will be present with information booths. Seating for the ceremony will be limited.

Following the ceremony, the Kiwanis Club will host a barbecue.
