Authorities investigating South County stabbing

Information sought on suspect

– On Saturday, at approximately 11:56 a.m., officers of the Grover Beach Police Department (GBPD) responded to reports of a fight in progress involving the occupants of two vehicles in the 1700 block of Ramona Ave.

Upon arrival, officers engaged with multiple witnesses, but the parties involved in the altercation had already left the scene.

Around noon, officers reportedly received information about an assault victim near the intersection of 16th Street and Grand Avenue. Officers responded and discovered an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition despite the severity of his injuries, according to GBPD.

Detectives were immediately called in to collaborate with patrol officers in the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the occupants of two vehicles were engaged in a physical confrontation at the initial location on Ramona Ave. During the altercation, the victim sustained multiple stab wounds before fleeing to the intersection of 16th Street and Grand Avenue. The suspect, who fled the scene in a minivan, was not located, but the van was later identified through community video cameras.

At approximately 9:45 P.M., GBPD officers located the suspect’s van within the city and conducted a traffic stop. Subsequent investigations revealed that the occupants of the van were not connected to the altercation. They were interviewed and released. The van has been seized for further evidence processing.

Detectives are actively pursuing various investigative leads to find out the identity of the suspect. They urge anyone with information related to this incident or who may have witnessed the altercation to come forward.
