Autopsy results in for man found in back of truck in Cayucos

–The Coroner’s Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has released the autopsy results for 83-year-old Donald Eugene Cunningham from the Bakersfield area. He was found dead in the back of an SUV in Cayucos on Aug. 15. The manner of death is listed as natural. The cause of death is listed as acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. A contributing cause is listed as acute morphine toxicity, meaning morphine was discovered in his body but was not the underlying cause of death. Since it was discovered that the victim had died in Kern County before being transported to San Luis Obispo County, inquiries regarding the investigation should be referred to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
