Bearcat runners finish strong in Arroyo Grande

Cross country teams to participate in Morro Bay Invitational September 12

– It was a big weekend for the Paso Robles High School cross country runners, with the boys’ and girls’ teams taking second and third place respectively at the Arroyo Grande Big Ditch Invitational.

The Bearcat girls (Division 3) placed third overall out of nine teams in the Arroyo Grande Big Ditch Invitational at Talley Fields on Saturday. They finished behind Ventura (Division 1) and Arroyo Grande (Division 2 and ranked No. 8 in state).

Senior Ashley Davis led the team, finishing sixth overall in a time of 15:30, with Annie Meeder, finishing tenth overall in a time of 16:01. The Bearcat girls are currently unranked going into the 2015 season.

The Bearcat boys placed second overall behind the Ventura boys (Division 1 and ranked No. 3 in state).

Luis Armendariz placed third overall in a time of 12:45 and Gannon Chamberlain finished right behind with a time of 12:52. The Bearcat Boys are currently ranked No. 5 in the state for Division 3 schools and No. 26 statewide for all divisions.

The Paso Robles cross country runners will participate in the Morro Bay Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, taking place at Morro Bay High School with the course taking runners onto the sandy beach nearby. JV is set to start at 10 a.m. and varsity at 10:30 a.m.
