Bearcat sports update: waterpolo, softball

Bearcats boys water polo

–The Bearcat boys water polo team sent their seniors off with a win for senior night. The Paso seniors had a strong showing. Tre Eade led the team with four goals, Cole Eberhard and Zach Summers each tallied three goals. Wyatt Millsap and Nolan Rumph rounded out the senior scorers with two goals each. Other scorers in the contest included Reily Lowry with three, Cody Domingos, and Cameron Clayton with two goals each.

The Bearcats led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. By half time the Bearcats improved their lead to 9-7 over the Greyhounds. Atascadero continued to fight back and the third quarter concluded with a score of 13-12 in favor of Paso. Paso would put the game away in the fourth quarter bringing the final score to 21-15.

The Bearcat Boys move to 2-2 in the Mountain League and 3-5 overall on the season. The Paso boys have one final game left in their short season. They play San Luis Obispo at SLOHS on Wednesday the 14th.

Bearcat girls water polo

On Wednesday, the lady Bearcat Water Polo team faced the Greyhounds of Atascadero at Municipal Pool in Paso. The Greyhounds were able to take the win 11 to nine in the Mountain League game. In the game, both Makayla Power and Delaney Rice scored four goals each to lead the Greyhound scorers. Annika Pauschek scored 2 goals in the game. For Paso Robles Sienna Lowry led the Bearcats with 6 goals, Leanna Reed added 2 goals and Erika Enriquez added 1 goal. Kaitlyn Hebrard kept the Bearcats in the game as she added 14 more saves to her season total. The Bearcats will meet Arroyo Grande next Monday at Nipomo High school at 6 p.m.

Bearcat softball

The Bearcats went on the road Wednesday afternoon to play the St. Joseph Knights softball team. This game came one week after the Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season to the knights by the score of nine to eight. The Bearcats avenged that loss with a blowout 12 to two victory. Defensively the Bearcats were led by Jaiden Ralston and Emma Phillips. Jaiden only gave up one hit in the day and struck out 14 St Joe batters in six innings of work to earn her 2nd win of the season. The Paso bats stayed hot and 7 different hitters had RBIs on the day. Hannah Chambers had four runs batted in with a three-run homer in the 3rd inning. Andie Dizon continues to hit the ball hard as well. Andie went three for four with a double and solo homer in the 3rd inning as well. Stella Gidcumb, Morgan Meidam, Emma Phillips, and Mia Chambers all had multiple hits and RBIs. The fun continues this Saturday on the road for the Bearcats at Pioneer Valley high school. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
