Bearcat swim team loses tough battle to Righetti Warriors

The Bearcat swim team lost in a tough battle against the Righetti Warriors in Santa Maria on Tuesday.

Girls final score was RHS 151/ PRHS 135. CIF consideration times were earned by the second place 200 Medley Relay of Cece Ramirez, Miranda Pasky, Sarah Clark, Audrey Hughes, and by the first place 200 Free Relay team of Mackenzie Raymond, Ramirez, Clark, Hughes. Raymond was also victorious in the 100 Free with a lifetime best performance of 56.79. Gabriella Clayton touched the wall first in the 500 Freestyle and was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay team along with Raymond, Pasky, and Emily Christian.

Final score for the boys was RHS 192/PRHS 90. Despite the loss, the boys had a very successful day with nearly every team member achieving one or more lifetime personal best performances. Grant Scheiffele was first in the 100 fly (56.97) and 100 back (1:02.74) while teammate Gavin Hughes also doubled up with wins in the 200 free (1:52.02) and the 100 free (52.16).

Bearcats face Atascadero on Friday.

Both the girls and boys teams are currently 2-3 in PAC 8 competition.
