Bearcat water polo places ninth in tournament 

The girls varsity water polo placed ninth out of over 25 teams at a tournament in Oxnard on Jan. 19-20. Overall, the Bearcats were 4-1 during the tournament.

Jan. 19

The Bearcats beat Calabasas 9-2, and lost to Oxnard 7-5.

Jan. 20

The Bearcats beat Louisville 7-4, beat Ventura 9-8, and beat Malibu 9-4. In the Ventura match, the Bearcats were 7-4 at the fourth quarter and the winning goal was made ten seconds before the game ended.

Key players during the weekend include sophomore Halle Nash with 11 goals, sophomore Tatiana Smelter with 11 goals, Finley Burns with 52 saves and her personal best of 18 saves during the Oxnard match.

The Bearcats are currently 14-8 overall and 2-2 in league.
