Wrestling
Paso Robles hosted Atascadero and St. Joseph in a dual match on Tuesday, with the varsity Bearcat wrestlers earning a 49-27 victory over the Greyhounds and a 51-19 win over the Knights.
Bearcats Daede Murphy, Kris Sanchez, Mike Dominguez, Nathan Garcia and John Cabrall won by pin over their opponents. Rhett Perez and Julian Madrigal each won by decision, while Roman Maciel and Blake Irish received forfeits.
The Bearcats are set to travel to Arroyo Grande on Tuesday to face the Eagles. JV action starts at 5:30; varsity at 7 p.m.
Girls’ soccer
The Paso Robles junior varsity Bearcats hosted the St. Joseph Knights in their first league game that resulted in a 0-0 tie on Friday. The Bearcats, despite 26 shots on goal, could not put the ball in the back of the net.
“A lot of credit goes to the defensive line of St. Joseph,” said Bearcats Coach Dillon Simoulis. “They made it very hard for the Bearcats to get good, clean looks at the goal.”
The Bearcats (0-1 PAC 8, 7-1 overall) allowed just two shots on their goal and missed a game-winning penalty kick just wide of the goal in the last few minutes of the game.
