Bearcats baseball to face San Luis Obispo

North County sports update

–The Paso Robles boys baseball team takes on San Luis Obispo at six this evening. The Bearcats beat the Tigers Tuesday, which was the first loss of the season for San Luis. Today, they play in San Luis, and the Tiger’s ace, Cooper Benson will start on the mound.

The Tigers best hitter, Brooks Lee, is injured, and will not play this evening. Sophomore Jakob Wright may start for the Bearcats.

That game begins at six at San Luis Obispo High School.
The Paso Robles girls softball team plays at St. Joseph in Santa Maria. That game begins at 4:30. On Tuesday, the Bearcats beat Arroyo Grande 11-2.

Atascadero girls softball team hosts Righetti at 4:30 this afternoon.

The Atascadero boys baseball team plays at Templeton at 6 this afternoon.

The Templeton girls softball team plays at San Luis Obispo at 4:30 this afternoon.

Bearcats swimmer set record

At Thursday’s meet in Arroyo Grande today, PRHS Freshman Holly DiSimone broke Poppy Gilman’s school record from 1988, posting a 58.74. A time not only good enough to beat all the girls but also all the boys too at this meet.

Other standout performances for the Bearcats included Senior Mackenzie Raymond qualifying for her 5th CIF auto-cut time. Junior Jasen Line nearly earned an auto-cut for CIF in the 200 Free with a 2nd place finish, 1:53.94.

The final score of the meet was Varsity Girls: Paso 194-118 Arroyo Grande; Varsity Boys: Paso 121-190 Arroyo Grande; JV Girls: Paso 91-178 Arroyo Grande; JV Boys: Paso 44.5-177.5 Arroyo Grande.

Golf update

In golf this week, Paso Robles High School and Righetti competed in home and away matches. The two teams competed on Monday at Rancho Maria with Righetti earning a close win 219-225. On Thursday the Bearcats hosted Righetti at The Paso Robles Golf Club and once again competed in a very close match with Righetti winning 220-226. Joe Moles for Righetti was the medalist in both matches shooting a 72 and 76. Colby Callaway was the low man for the bearcats on Monday with an 86. Logan Burns and Hayden Wagner shared the low score on Thursday for the bearcats with an 88.
