Bearcats compete at Stanford Cross Country Invitational

–Competing at the prestigious Stanford Cross Country Invitational, held on the Stanford golf course, Paso Robles held their own against some of the top teams in the state. The Boys competed in the DI race against 29 teams with 211 competitors. After a rough start with a fall to the ground in the first 200 meters, Pasos top three runners worked their way from last place, up to the front of the race. Pablo Cortes placed 7th in 15:59 for the 5K distance. Damian Gavilan was 11th in 16:04 followed by Steven Scruggs in 27th 16:31. Rounding out the scoring for the Bearcats, Jason Scruggs was 31st in 16:36, and Michael Hernandez, 70th in 17:03.

The Bearcats finished third with 144 pts. Davis from the Sacramento area was 1st with 90. Etiwanda from the SS was 2nd with 136.

Out of 153 teams that ran the same course throughout the day, the Bearcats had the 14th best team time.

For the Lady Bearcats competing in the DI race, they finished eleventh out of 28 teams. Led by Jasmine Rangel, 31st, 19:48, she was followed by Madeline Loff, 36th 19:55. Rounding out the top five for scoring. Freshman Charlotte Castelli, 81st, 20:46. Grace Chamberlain, 88th, 20:52. And Emily Mathein 94th 21:02. There were 193 finishers.

Next up for the Bearcats is the Clovis Invitational Saturday, Oct. 6.
