Bearcats continue with CIF action

Paso Robles High girls’ water polo and boys’ soccer teams compete Wednesday afternoon in Arroyo Grande and Atascadero

–Athletes from two of Paso Robles High School’s sports teams will continue on in CIF today –girls’ water polo and boys’ soccer. The Bearcat girls will host Redlands East Valley in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Water Polo Semi-Finals at Arroyo Grande High School; game time is set for 3 p.m. The Bearcat boys will host Burroughs/Burbank in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 Soccer Quarterfinals at Atascadero High School; game time is set for 5 p.m.

The Bearcat girls (18-10 overall) earned the right to advance to the semi-finals – a first in the history of PRHS water polo – after defeating The Webb Schools of Claremont, 8-4, in the quarterfinals at Arroyo Grande High School on Saturday. Tatiana Smeltzer led the Bearcats with three goals. Marina Smeltzer and Veronica Ayala had two goals apiece, and Halle Nash added one goal. Goalkeeper Lulu Root had 12 saves.
