Bearcats cross country team competes in San Luis Obispo

On Thursday, Oct. 11, Bearcat Cross-Country traveled to SLO to compete in the CCAA Mountain League Mid Season Meet held at the Fairbanks course (5K). The Bearcats performed outstanding on the grueling course.

Varsity boys placed 1st by three points in front of San Luis Obispo. Pablo Cortes lead the race from the start and finished in 1st place (16:05). Not far behind Cortes was Damian Gavilan placing 3rd (16:26) and Steven Scruggs placing 5th (16:43). We also saw great performances from Jason Scruggs placing 17th (17:26), Michael Hernandez placing 24th (18:27), Caelan Casa placing 29th (18:58) and Ethan Short placing 31st (19:01).

Varsity Girls also had a great showing placing 2nd behind San Luis Obispo. First in for the Bearcats was Madeline Loff 9th (20:17). Not far behind was Jasmine Rangel 12th (20:36), Jessica Jagger 15th (21:28), Amelia Schell 16th (21:41), Jill Schlickeiser 17th (21:50), Emily Mathien 19th (21:60), and Grace Chamberlain 22nd (22:15).
