Bearcats cross country team travels to Woodward Park

On Saturday, Bearcat Cross Country traveled to Woodward Park in Fresno for the Asics Clovis Invitational and competed in the Large School race (5k). The girls’ varsity competed in the first race at 7:15 am and boys raced at 8:05 a.m., to which we arrived before the sun rose for the girls to warm up.

Varsity Boys performed outstanding and placed 2nd (158pts) behind Simi Valley (112pts) out of 33 schools with 223 athletes competing. Pablo Cortes placed 6th (15:54), Damian Gavilan placed 7th (15:55), Steven Scruggs placed 16th (16:06), Jason Scruggs placed 16:28), Michael Hernandez placed 87th (16:58), Ethan Short placed 185th (18:23) and Daniel Jimenez placed 205th (18:49).

The Varsity girls performed well, placing 12th out of 32 schools with 215 athletes competing. Madeline Loff placed 62nd (20:25), Jasmine Rangel placed 66th (20:29), Charlotte Castelli placed 70th (20:45), Emily Mathien placed 100th (21:06), Jessica Jagger placed 101st (21:07), Grace Chamberlain placed 115th (21:26), and Amelia Schell placed 126th (21:40).
