Bearcats host Quartz Hill Rebels Friday

–The Paso Robles Bearcats will host Quartz Hill Rebels at 3:15 Friday afternoon at Barnhart Field.

Discussion about changing the start time to accommodate ended with the Rebels agreeing to the 3:15 start time.

The Rebels are 26-5 for the season. The Bearcats are now 25-6. Two years ago, the Bearcats lost to Quartz Hill at their field, near Lancaster and Palmdale. Coach Derek Stroud says the wind was blowing 30 miles per hour toward center field, which is why the Rebels put up so many runs on their home field.

In the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Rebels beat La Salle of Pasadena 12-11 at Quartz Hill. Then they beat San Gorgonio 9-3 in Pasadena, scoring eight runs in the 4th inning.

The Bearcats beat Cantwell, Sacred Heart 7-1 last week in Montebello. They beat Poly (Riverside) 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at Paso Robles High School. Nolan Binkele was the winning pitcher in each game. Binkele will not start for the Bearcats Friday because his pitch count is too high. Stroud will go with his sophomores; Ryan Harvel and Lucas Climer.

Athletic Director Anthony Morales says if the Bearcats beat Quartz Hill, they play on the road against either Walnut or El Segundo next Tuesday.

There will be no admission fee for the game Friday, but fans are encouraged to buy hot dogs, beverages, and homemade brownies at the snack bar to support Bearcat Athletics.
