Bearcats lose to Tigers 


–The Paso Robles Bearcats lost the second game of their three-game series with the San Luis Obispo Tigers 4-0 Thursday afternoon in San Luis Obispo.
The Bearcats won the first game 4-3 in Paso Robles Tuesday afternoon.

The game includes several outsanding players who may play professionally in the next few years. Paso Robles Will Stroud is hitting .422. He has committed to play next year for Azusa Pacific. San Luis Obispo shortstop Brooks Lee is hitting .488. He doubled in the first inning yesterday, and scored the first run in the game.

The Tiger’s Cooper Benson is 7-0 with an ERA of 0.34. The southpaw has committed to Arizona State University, although he’s only a junior. Benson will pitch Friday night at Paso Robles High School. Benson homered in yesterday’s game.

In the Pac-8, the Tigers remain in first with a record of 14-3. Atascadero, under new head coach Jonathon Thornhill, remain in second at 13-4. The Bearcats are in third place with a record of 10-6. Four games are left to play in the regular season. Next week, the Tigers play the Greyhounds. The Bearcats play Mission Prep (5-12).

During Wednesday’s game, third-base coach Dewey Stroud talked with Cal Poly Coach Larry Lee about their respective nephew and son. After the game, Lee and the Mustangs flew to Hawaii. The Mustangs have a three-game series against Hawaii this weekend.
