Bearcats softball beats Righetti 6-0

North County sports update

–The Paso Robles girls softball team beat Righetti 6-0 Tuesday afternoon at Paso Robles High School. Andie Dizon singled with the bases loaded in the 6th inning to put the Bearcats up 5-0. A fielder’s choice scored one more run. Jaiden Ralston struck out 7 hitters and allowed only 3 hits in getting the shut-out victory. The Bearcats take on Templeton at 6 p.m. Friday night at Vineyard Ballpark.

In San Luis Obispo, Bailey Doherty threw another no-hitter as the Atascadero Greyhound girls softball team beat the Tigers 6-0. Doherty struck out eleven for the Greyhounds. Atascadero will host St. Joseph next Tuesday.

In volleyball

The Paso Robles Bearcats defeated the Righetti Warriors by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday Night. Set scores were 25–23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Hector Arteaga lead the team with 8 kills and 5 blocks while Jordan Morris added 5 kills. Caleb Wittwer and Brock Williams added 7 blocks each to the winning effort.

Bearcats improve to 8-9 on the season (2-1 in league play) and next play vs St Joseph on Thursday night at home. First serve is at 5:30.

Weekly sports update from D. Anthony Morales, Director of Athletics

Last Friday the Paso Robles Bearcats softball team beat the St Joseph knights 2-0 in their Mountain League contest Friday evening. Skylar Johnson of St Joseph and Jaiden Ralston of Paso threw well and recorded 10 strikeouts each. Paso was able to get on the board in the 4th inning scoring two runs. Back to back doubles by Mckenna Smith and Sophia Prieto got Paso going. Lya Abel knocked in Sophia from second base to end the scoring. Good defense and strong pitching kept the knights away from home plate. The Bearcats improve to 3&1 in Mountain League play and host The Righetti warriors today. Game time is 4:30.

On Saturday March the 23rd the Paso Robles divers participated in the Clovis West Invitational.

Cori Southward showed his physical and mental strength with another excellent performance placing second with a score of 345.90. Teammate Ethan Carmon also placed High with a score of 310.90 taking 6th Place. Their combined score of 34 points for Paso Robles High School starts a combined effort with the swim team who will continue competition this upcoming weekend.

Girl diver Maeven Perlich placed 17th just missing the final cut with a score of 192.90.
Divers will continue their season at Nipomo on March 4th and then at Arroyo Grande Invitational March 6.

In addition, track & field competed in the Santa Barbara Relays on 3/23. They had a great performance.

Yesterday varsity men’s tennis competed against SLO. Paso had a home match today on Court Bearcat against SLO.

The Bearcats fought hard against the strong team , but lost the match 1-8.
