–The Paso Robles Bearcats travel Friday to La Mirada in the first round of the CIF playoffs. They’ll take on the La Mirada Matadores (8-2) ranked #13 in California by Max Preps.

La Mirada’s only two losses were to Mater Dei (48-0) and St. John Bosco (34-0). Those teams are ranked #1 CA, #1 US and #2 CA, #4 US, respectively. Most of the La Mirada victories had them crushing their opponents with a high-powered offense and stingy defense.

Don Goldammer, Bearcat announcer on KPRL, tells Paso Robles Daily News, “Defending State 3AA champions. They had a brutal non-league schedule but have not had any competition since 9/16 against San Clemente.”

The game gets underway Friday at 7 p.m. in La Mirada High School. The winner advances in the playoffs. The loser’s season ends Friday.
