Beauty supply hosts fundraiser for baby with ‘Bubble Boy Syndrome’
Westside Beauty Supply of Paso Robles is asking the public for help as it helps raise funds to help 2-1/2-month-old Baby Phoenix Archer Wilkinson who has been diagnosed with “Bubble Boy Syndrome“, a rare disorder requiring a bone marrow transplant and a lengthy hospital stay.
Pat Wilkinson and Kristen Anderson Wilkinson, graduates of Coast Union High School, are the parents of Baby Phoenix, who is in a sterile unit of UC San Francisco Hospital’s children’s wing. Both are natives of this area who worked in local restaurants, played on local sports teams and still consider the Central Coast to be their home, though they now live in San Francisco.
On Jann. 10, Westside Beauty Supply will be holding a 50/50 raffle where 50-percent of the proceeds will be donated to Baby Phoenix, and 50-percent will go to the winner. Tickets for the raffle are $10 each and with every raffle ticket, Westside Beauty Supply will offer a $10 gift card.
“It’s our way of giving back to the community where we do business,” said Patrick Bingham, store owner. “My store manager Katie read about Phoenix’s situation in our local paper and came up with the idea. We are always looking for ways to be involved in the community and this seemed like a great way to give back.”
Quizno’s is also helping out by offering a 25-percent off meal coupon with every raffle ticket purchased (Good only on Jan. 10). As an added incentive, the beauty supply shop is offering customers 20-percent off their entire purchase that weekend, Jan. 10-11. The store is located at 2307 Suite #500 Theatre Drive, Paso Robles in the Target shopping center.
