Yanagi

“Yanagi” in Japanese refers to a long, thin knife that is used to prepare sushi, sashimi, and sliced raw fish. Known for its innovative menu and generous portions, Yanagi is a popular pick for locals and tourists alike. It is one of the few restaurants in the area to serve teppanyaki. Sushi Kokku

With two other locations on the Central Coast, owners Bruce and Suki decided to open up a Sushi Kokku restaurant in Paso Robles after “popular demand” from the North County community in 2006. A great place for a quick lunch, Sushi Kokku is located on the corner of First and Spring Street. The “fast-casual” style sushi restaurant offers classic Japanese dishes such as miso soup, edamame, gyoza, nigiri, and rolls at an affordable price. Located at: 630 First St. in Paso Robles. Goshi

Goshi offers world-class traditional Japanese cuisine in Downtown Paso Robles. Owner Takeshi Goshi Yamada was born in Tokyo in 1941. His family owned a prestigious restaurant there frequented by politicians and other dignitaries, including prime ministers, who came to enjoy the authentic Japanese dishes his father prepared. After training in traditional cuisine and meeting the love of his life Masae, Yamada opened his first restaurant in Los Angeles. He moved his family north to open Tsurugi in San Luis Obispo in 1990 and north again in 2002 with Goshi in Paso Robles. They are located at 722 Pine St. in Paso Robles. Phone number: (805) 227-4860. Poke Chef Paso

Poke Chef Paso is the first restaurant of its kind in North County. It was first established as “Poke Chef” by William Yan in 2017 and is now managed by the Kinsell Family, who are locals to Paso Robles. They offer their fresh poke as both bowls and “burritos.” Online ordering is available. They are located in Paso Robles at 1405 Spring St. in Suite 101. Phone number: (805) 257 7585. Cane Tiki

Cane Tiki is a fun new Hawaiian-style restaurant with a menu built around shared plates and small bites. Guests will find “tiki bar favorites” including ahi poke, eggrolls, kabobs, and musubi.
