Northbound traffic on Highway 101 diverted onto Spring Street

    – A single-vehicle big rig collision occurred earlier this morning on U.S. Highway 101 northbound, just south of Paso Robles, according to a Facebook post on Paso Robles Incidents/Action. Fuel from the truck caused a fire near the railroad tracks below. Northbound traffic on 101 was diverted onto Spring Street, which may cause delays for early commuters.

In a statement, the Paso Robles Fire Department reportedly described the incident as a “long-duration” event. The department, along with West Coast Towing, is working to stabilize the semi-trailer and lift it back onto the 101 overpass. Northbound 101 will remain closed north of the Spring Street offramp until approximately 12 p.m. today. Commuters are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly.

Photos were provided by Matt Mohler, Jason Brock, and the Paso Robles Fire Department.
