Villa 46 Blues and BBQ event to serve up locally-sourced foods, wines, and music on October 17

By design, Villa 46 is the perfect location for outdoor festivities, so wine-lovers, foodies, music fanatics and adventurers alike will love indulging at Villa 46’s upcoming Blues and BBQ event from 6-10 p.m. on Oct. 17, located right at the Villa itself on 4230 Buena Vista Drive, Paso Robles. It is the winery’s first Harvest Festival event, packed with wine tasting, appetizers, a meal, dessert and entertainment.

Tucked away like a best-kept-secret in the sprawling hills of Paso Robles, Villa 46 is Italy away from Italy for Central Coast wine connoisseurs. At every turn, a visitor’s eye is met with the handcrafted details of artisan ironwork, fountains and statues, open spaces accented with carefully curated antiques and breathtaking grounds through which to stroll.

Those attending the Blues and BBQ event will enjoy a delicious barbecue meal prepared by Chef Margaret Shirley, who is known for her culinary prowess and whose background is marked by an abundance of vineyard festivities. First on the menu is a host of appetizer stations, which will include shrimp ceviche with blue corn chips, cilantro cream and a salsa bar; assorted local cheeses with spiced pecans, whipped goat cheese, crostini and house-made hot pepper jelly; and farm-to-table crudite with assorted dipping sauces.

Next, the Southern-style barbecue buffet will include roasted fingerling potato salad, bibb lettuce salad with raspberry vinaigrette, baked barbecue beans with bacon, jambalaya with dirty rice, smoked pulled pork sliders with apple/jalapeno slaw, buttermilk-fried chicken strips with black pepper buttermilk ranch, and Memphis-style dry-rubbed ribs with Maggie’s “Q Sauce.”

To top it all off, guests can enjoy a dessert buffet that will feature Mississippi mud cake bars, lemon ooey-gooey cake bars, chocolate bourbon pecan pie, and a coffee/hot chocolate bar. All foods prepared for the meal will be locally sourced, paying tribute to San Luis Obispo County’s farmers and food producers.

To pair with the outstanding cuisine of the evening, guests will also enjoy tastings of all of Villa 46’s wines while soaking in the laid-back, Friday-night-funky blues tunes of the Central Coast’s own Spoonfed Lightning.

“Seeing the Central Coast continue to blossom in the wine world has been amazing, and we’re ecstatic to be part of it,” said Villa 46’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Events, Jaime Glenn, who is organizing the Blues and BBQ event. “Taking part in this year’s Harvest Festival by having our own locally sourced barbecue is just another way we get to treat our community to the type of incredible food and wine experience people now know us for.”
