Update: Body found on Cal Poly campus

Man identified as San Luis Obispo teen Robert Sean Douglas Aversano

–The Coroner’s Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the man found dead on Tuesday at the base of the radio tower on the Cal Poly campus at the corner of Highway 1 and Highland Drive in San Luis Obispo.

The man has been identified as 18-year-old Robert Sean Douglas Aversano of San Luis Obispo.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma. The manner of death is pending toxicology results. Investigators have ruled out foul play.

Victim is described as a white male adult in his early 20sSheriff

–On Tuesday, detectives from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office were called out to assist the Cal Poly Police Department with an investigation into a body that was discovered near the radio tower on the Cal Poly campus at the corner of Highway 1 and Highland Drive in San Luis Obispo.

A hiker who lived nearby found the body near a trail at approximately 12:15 p.m. The victim is described as a white male adult in his early 20s. The cause of death is undetermined at this time, but investigators don’t suspect foul play is involved.

The victim had no identification on him and investigators are urging to public to contact the sheriff’s office at (805) 781-4550 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549 STOP (549-7867) if they have any information on his identity.
